5th April 2010

It's Easter Monday today and I'm working.

The weekend was good though, we went four-wheel-driving up to the Big River state park. There were some really nice lookouts, a pretty tame track etc. then on the way home, we went down an overgrown track. We were thinking and laughing about how much better it is having an older car as the Patrol now has quite a few scratches on it and we didn't care at all.

All of a sudden, my head hit the roof, the steering wheel whacked your dad's chin and shit flew everywhere. We had hit a huge 20m log off to the side of the track.

It took your dad and his friends ages to figure out what was wrong. Oil was leaking everywhere and we had no idea where we were in relation to the GPS location or on the map.

Eventually one of your dad's friends asked him to turn the wheels to one side so he could see better and we realized the busted rim wasn't our only problem. We now had a cracked steering box too! Therefore, no steering at all!

We then had a problem that one person was in front of us, one was behind us and there was a decent drop off the side of the cliff. After ages of trial and error, your dad's friend came up with the idea of letting down one tyre and driving over the log which changed the direction of the tyre.

It worked really well! I certainly wouldn't have thought of it! We finally moved the car 50m or so into the bushes on the side of the track and jumped into your dad's friends car for the drive home.

Luckily your dad's brother was able to organise a steering box we could borrow at least get the car home. So yesterday we got up at the crack of dawn, drove back up there. A couple of hours later, we arrived at the car. 2 hours exactly to fit the steering box which was very interesting to watch. We drove out to the main road and checked the fluid levels, when steam and water went everywhere!

A T-shaped hose piece had split! All we could do was stand there, watch and laugh!

We all piled into the car again and drove down to Warburton where your dad's friend asked another guy who had a Patrol if he had a spare T-Piece and he did!!!

On the drive back up, it wasn't fun anymore, we were all tired and ready to go home.

The car did get home though which is good and I got to drive it to work for my last 3 days at work!

Are you coming yet? I thought you were going to start making an appearance about an hour after hitting the log on Saturday. I had pains for hours, then they just stopped.

I hope you're ok. You have dropped now, I have lost the round look, and now I just look fat!

After you are born, we both have to make sure that I lose about 40kg.

Love you
Mum
