17th May 2010

Hi Princess,

So much has happened in the last five days!

On 13th of May 2010, I stayed in the hospital in our own private room. You kept me awake all night every time I turn off the light you cried, you got used to the noise and constant lights 24–7 in intensive care that the dark and the quiet scared you!

You came home on 14 May 2010. I waited in the hospital until about 2 PM, impatiently waiting for the doctors to tell me I could take you home and do your checkup, the smile that I gave when I said you could come home was a candid moment.

I promptly put you in your pram and walked proudly down to the car, awkwardly put you in your car seat and even more awkwardly put your pram in the back. You screamed your little lungs out until the car started moving! I put Irish songs on the radio and you were fine!

When I got you home, I gave you a bath and then fell asleep with you on the couch until your dad came home. The first night at home was a nightmare. Again you didn’t like the dark or quiet, every time your dad stop snoring you would scream! Mind you, you didn’t go to bed until about 4:30 AM as we took you to visit your dad's friends.

You were so good, so quiet, you loved the noise! Everyone said you were gorgeous!

On Saturday we took you to Fountain Gate shopping center as we found out we needed more jumpsuits and blankets. The maternal health nurse also came to visit and found that you were not attaching properly and showed me how to do it.

On Sunday your dad's family came over. Your grandma knitted some beautiful cardigans which we will keep so you can dress your dolls in them.

Today your dad and I spent the day looking for a bassinet because we want you in our room and your cot is too big. We found a gorgeous one that folds down flat so we will be able to take it camping with us.

Oh and this morning I was so proud to say that we mastered attachment so no more sore nipples! We also had our first bath together tonight, it was so beautiful, you are so quiet and content to float in the water for ages.

Anyway beautiful, you have fallen asleep in my arms so I’m going to put you in your new bed and hopefully catch a few hours myself.

I’m so proud to say you are my daughter

Love
Mum
